Casual Event Host
We're looking for Event Hosts to join the team at Contact!
MAIN LOCATION: Contact but may be required to work at other venues as required
RESPONSIBLE TO: Deputy Audience Manager
WORKS WITH: Operational Teams
HOURS: This role will be shift based and you will be expected to work daytimes, evenings and weekends
STATUS: Casual, Zero Hour Contract
CLOSING DATE FOR APPLICATIONS: 19th October 2025
START DATE: 9th November 2025 - Compulsory training will take place on this day. Attendance is essential. Please do not apply if you are unable to attend the training on this day.
AVAILABILITY: You must be available to work over the Christmas period, and on evenings and weekends.
OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE
As an Event Host you will provide excellent customer service and ensure that all audiences visiting Contact have a memorable, exciting and safe experience. You should be well informed about all aspects of the programme and be able to talk confidently to all visitors to the venue.
You will have a full understanding of the emergency and evacuation procedures and will play a key role in their implementation.
MAIN TASKS
- Be the welcoming public face of Contact.
- Maintain an excellent, professional and friendly relationship with customers, clients and colleagues.
- Check auditoriums and public areas for lost property / damage / hazards after each performance and tidying these spaces.
- Help set up spaces before performances and events.
- Remain in the performance space during performances to check there are no problems or risks to public health and safety (e.g. smoking, disruptive audience members, illegal use of recording equipment).
- Welcome audience members and scan tickets.
- Gather feedback from audience members.
- Play a central role in ensuring that all audiences at Contact events have a memorable, exciting and safe experience.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, safe and healthy environment at all times, checking health and safety regulations are maintained.
- Ensure accuracy in cash handling using Contact’s systems and procedures for merchandise and confectionary sales.
- Be an advocate for Contact and demonstrate an informed understanding about all that we offer.
- To understand and carry out emergency and evacuation procedures in the event of fire or any other emergency where required.
- Arrive punctual for shifts
- Communicate in a clear and professional manner at all times.
- Work closely with the catering partner and help deliver events, including hires and private functions.
- Understand and help Contact’s commitment to lowering the impact we have on the environment.
GENERAL
- Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required in connection with the position.
- To manage all personal data in line with the General Data Protection Regulations.
- Follow Contact’s Health & Safety policy, undertaking duties as required and ensure reasonable care is taken to maintain a healthy and safe place for public and staff, including following and implementing all COVID-secure measures.

- Represent Contact at external events as required
- Get involved with creative work being presented by Contact by attending workshops, read-throughs, rehearsals and performances on a regular basis

- Possess excellent communication and customer service skills and a friendly approach even under pressure.
- Ability to engage confidently with a wide range of people.
- Confidence in working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to problem solve and think quickly on feet in changing circumstances.
- Ability to work well in a team and individually.
- Ability to both take instruction and use own initiative.
- An enthusiasm for working in a richly diverse environment.
- Availability to work during daytime, evening and weekend shifts.
